Faith Forward: Stewardship and Finance

Faith Forward: A St. Andrew’s Stewardship Initiative

This weekend, Father Gabriel emphasized "the wealth we receive in this life is a gift from God. A gift we are meant to steward, putting it at the service of God and our neighbor. In the life of Christian stewardship, we accept and we believe and celebrate that we have been given gifts, including our finances, in abundance for our every need. We have the responsibility of living in the kingdom of abundance, the kingdom that is generous and one that is filled with trust."

The wealth we receive in this life is a gift from God, a gift we are meant to steward, putting it at the service of God and of our neighbor. Certainly that begins with meeting our own material needs and the needs of those who depend upon us in our families. But then this is meant to expand out to our broader communities. We might say to ourselves, “God doesn’t need my money.” And that’s true. So, it is not for His sake but for ours that He made His kingdom differently, asking us to give alms to those in need and to provide for the material needs of the church according to our means.
