The Most Holy Trinity - Love for Us

We celebrate the Most Holy Trinity this Sunday. The Holy Trinity is the truth about God. He is one God, three persons of the same substance, equal in power and majesty. The oneness of God and the Threeness of persons may provoke some confusion. God will not do that to us. He never causes us distress, but he shares the truth. Therefore, let us enjoy Trinity Sunday. The mystery of the Trinity is perfect for meditation and reflection. If you struggle to understand the Trinity, take it slowly and ponder it. The Holy Spirit will give you the gift of understanding.

Today, I invite you to focus on an article about the Trinity in the Catechism. The Trinity is about love.

St. John goes even further when he affirms that "God is love": God's very being is love. By sending his only Son and the Spirit of Love in the fullness of time, God has revealed his innermost secret: God himself is an eternal exchange of love, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and he has destined us to share in that exchange. (CCC 221)

Love is central to the Trinity. Furthermore, God desires that we share in this eternal love. As Christians, love is important. "This is how all will know that you are my disciples if you have love for one another." John 13:35. These were the words that described the early church. These are the words that should describe us. The Holy Trinity gives us love.

The Trinity is love for us, perfect love that we are invited to inherit. We are also called to live this love today by asking God, "in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit" to give us love and help us to love. Without the Trinity, we see distorted forms of love everywhere. God’s own life has begun here on earth by the gift of faith. Every Christian has the complete Trinity in them because of the grace of Baptism and other sacraments. Thus, love is in us. Let us become agents of the Trinity and bring the exchange of God’s love everywhere we go.

Jesus thy kingdom come!  In my heart through Mary!  Fr. Gabriel
