Catechesis of the Good Shepherd
We are happy and excited to announce that the Brainerd Catholic Churches will begin Catechesis of the Good Shepherd at St Andrew and St Francis for children age 3 & 4 from all of our parishes.
Catechesis of the Good Shepherd has been in existence for 40 years in the USA and even longer in Italy where it originated. It is a beautiful way of catechizing that builds on the bond which already exists between God and the child.
The catechist’s role is to prepare the environment (known as an atrium), and to offer selected presentations from scripture and liturgy. He or she listens with the child and together they ask, “God, who are you? How do you love us?”
The specially prepared atrium along with the catechist serving as guide rather than teacher, helps the relationship between God and the child to flourish.
This will be the only program for 3 & 4 year old children in our parishes (apart from St Mathias).
Parents of this age children are invited to attend an information session at either:
St Andrew, Wednesday, September 4, 6:30 in classroom 7
or
St Francis, Thursday, September 5, 6:30 in the social hall
We hope you can come to one of the above information sessions to find out more about Catechesis of the Good Shepherd and meet the catechists!
