Confraternity of Christian Mothers

An initiation ceremony for new members of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers group will be held Sunday, July 23 after the 8:00am Mass at St. Mathias Parish with refreshments provided. All members are welcome to participate. This group’s mission is prayer for the protection of our children and families. Commitment is minimal but so inspirational and prayerful. The St. Mathias group has been in existence since 1934 with nearly 100 members and is open to all mothers of the Brainerd Area Catholic Churches. Membership is $5 annually. Money goes for prayer books, sacramentals, Masses for the intention of Christian Mothers, and special individual Masses when a member passes away. The Feast of St. Anne and St. Joachim on July 26 marks the beginning of the new year for membership renewals. Please consider membership in this holy mission for our children. Contact Mary Sather after Mass on the 23rd (or call her at 218-828-1989) to become a member, renew your annual membership, or with any questions you may have.

The Christian Mothers

Mothers rule the world.

They guide the destinies of homes; that is why God is relying on mothers to keep Christ in the world by keeping Him in their hearts and homes.

Under the special patronage of Mary, the Mother of Sorrows, Christian Mothers are encouraged joyously to undertake the important task of training and sanctifying the young souls entrusted to their care. They are instructed with ways to edify one another by word and deed, to support one another by fervent prayer, and in this way become the mainstay of the spiritual life within their own family and a fruitful source of blessing to the community in which they live.

This is the fundamental aim of all Confraternities affiliated with the Archconfraternity. Christian Mothers learn to unite their own hearts to Christ so that they can help to draw their families closer to the Lord. In that way, they become the leaven that makes their own parish and community more alive with the presence of the risen Lord.

The archconfraternity of Christian Mothers leads campaigns that promote real solutions to some of the biggest challenges faced by society. We challenge the notion that the way things are is the way things should always be and are proud to be a force for positive transformation.
