Mabel Tamasy
January 19, 1957 ~ August 5, 2025 (age 68)
Mabel Xiomara Tamasy, 68, of Brainerd, Minnesota, passed away on August 5th surrounded by love, leaving behind a legacy of grace, generosity, and unwavering devotion to those fortunate enough to know her.
Born and raised in Panama, Mabel's passion for dance was evident from a young age and led her to one of her proudest accomplishments: an assignment with the prestigious Royal Ballet School in London. Ballet was never just about technique for Mabel—it was a language of the soul. She spent many of her adult years teaching at various studios, where she poured her heart into every plié and pirouette, instilling not only the love of the art form but the courage to pursue it wholeheartedly. She believed deeply in helping her students become their very best—not by chasing perfection, but by dancing with authenticity, purpose, and joy.
Mabel’s heart was as expansive as her spirit. Gregarious, selfless, and full of life, she lit up every room she entered. Whether she was teaching dance, working retail with her trademark warmth and attentiveness, or simply chatting with friends and neighbors, Mabel exuded kindness and generosity in all she did.
Her life changed forever at her sister’s wedding, where she met Stephen, the man who would become her husband, best friend, and adventure partner. The two shared a love story filled with laughter, deep companionship, and countless shared journeys—both literal and spiritual. From road trips to far-off destinations to peaceful days on the lake, even casting fishing lines became an act of togetherness.
Above all, Mabel cherished her role as a mother. She and Stephen raised two children, Julius & Giselle, with boundless love and encouragement. Mabel taught them to follow their hearts, live courageously, and never be confined by convention. "God will guide you," she often said—words that shaped the foundation of her family's faith and freedom.
Mabel was faithful, vibrant, and wholly unique. Her one-of-a-kind spirit—a blend of elegance, humor, strength, and tenderness—will forever be held dear by all who loved her. Though her earthly journey has ended, her legacy dances on in the hearts she touched.
Her final bow was filled with the same grace as every step of her life: Mabel, your light lives on.
Mabel is survived by her son, Julius; daughter, Giselle; and siblings, Kelly, Edna, Yira, Boris, Carmen, and Demetrio “Beby”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen, and parents, Demetrio Halphen and Matilde Chichaco.
Please join her family as they celebrate Mabel’s Life with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, August 22nd at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Brainerd, Minnesota. Family and friends are welcome to gather one hour prior to Mass and stay for a luncheon to follow. Interment will take place at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley, Minnesota.
